Barred Plymouth Rocks
My Barred Rock breeding program began in 1980 with seedstock from Glen Holgerson of Arizona, Hi Patten of Kansas and Luther Combe of Utah. These three men were tops in the field at the time and raised them by the thousands. I have had the same blood line with no outcrossing for 28 years. In that time the egg production has been excellent, fertility excellent and through heavy culling, the growth and feathering excellent as well. My only challenge has been egg size and although these birds are terrific layers they produce mostly medium eggs. When they reach 2 years old many start producing large eggs.
In the past several years I have purchased stock from breeders throughout the U.S. and Canada. I have always been disappointed with what I recieved and each time they were all sent to the feed stores. Last season I purchased chicks from Bob Coulter in Minnesota. The males have good color and size. The females have very good color and size, these birds will definitely help me with my breeding program.

This pullet is my 2009 PRFC National Champion Barred Plymouth Rock. Although my females have excellent type, size and color, I appreciate my males for the same attributes and having full complete tails. The lack of full tails have been an issue with the best breeders for near 100 years.
Below is my 2008 pen of hens
Partridge Plymouth Rock
The Partridge Plymouth Rocks I have began with stock from Joel Gilman in Virginia. Joel had two different bloodlines and I acquired chicks two times, they were very different. They have very good size and type and good color. They are excellent producers and the fertility is very good as well. I hatched 75 chicks from 2 pullets this year and will be culling heavily.
Silver Spangled Hamburgs
Paul Hardy of Georgia is where my original seedstock came from. They have good color, type and size and are excellent producers of medium size white eggs. The fertility is also excellent as I hatched 90 chicks from one cockerel and 3 females by April 2009.
